Description

This chapter of the CVD Masterclass covers the prevalence of CVD globally and in Africa, pathophysiology of type 2 diabetes (T2D) and CVD, various complications, ADA and ESC recommended screening and tests, preventive care for patients with diabetes and pre-diabetes, platelets and treatment targets.

The chapter also provides recommendations to manage patients with diabetes and acute/chronic coronary syndromes, role of Renin- Angiotensin System (RAS), clinical trials to evaluate the benefits of Telmisartan in preventing CV, and renal disease progression.
