Description
Enhanced anti-infective prophylaxis (EAP) has been found to significantly reduce surgical site infections (SSI) following pancreatoduodenectomy (PD), according to a recent study. The research aimed to evaluate the impact of EAP on both superficial and intraabdominal SSIs, particularly in patients who had undergone preoperative bile duct stenting—a group prone to antibiotic-resistant infections. Results suggest that implementing targeted, enhanced antibiotic prophylaxis can effectively lower infection rates and improve postoperative outcomes after PD.
