Description

Preventing Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) in healthcare settings begins with strong awareness of its common risk factors and the implementation of effective hospital-based prevention measures. Key strategies such as active infection-prevention committees, proper hand hygiene, timely and accurate diagnosis and treatment, rational antimicrobial use, and ongoing surveillance of antibiotic use and resistance work together to limit the spread of resistant infections and enhance patient safety.

To mark Antimicrobial Awareness Week (November 18–24), here is a quick guide outlining the major risk factors for AMR and practical steps to prevent it.
