A randomized, double-blind, three-period crossover study in 20 healthy H. pylori-negative men examined pharmacokinetic interactions between omeprazole and clarithromycin. Omeprazole enhanced clarithromycin concentrations in plasma, gastric tissue, and mucus, suggesting a pharmacokinetic synergy that may underlie the high efficacy of omeprazole-clarithromycin regimens in H. pylori eradication.
